Introduction
As a highly effective whitening ingredient, α-arbutin reduces melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase activity and is widely used in spot-lightening essences, anti-sugar lotions and sensitive skin repair products; its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are also used in sunscreen repair, acne care and anti-aging masks. The EU recommends that facial products be added at ≤2% and body products at ≤0.5% to ensure safety.
